For a typical US seller, Etsy takes 6.5% transaction fee on the order total (including buyer-paid shipping and gift wrap), a $0.20 listing fee, and payment processing of 3% + $0.25 per order. That works out to roughly 10–12% of every sale before your product costs. Add Offsite Ads (12–15%) if the sale came from an Etsy ad. Run any price through the calculator above for your exact number.
Yes. Etsy's 6.5% transaction fee is charged on the item price plus the shipping the buyer pays (and gift wrap). Payment processing is also charged on the total order amount. So if you sell a $25 item with $5 shipping, you pay fees on $30 — not just $25.
Offsite Ads are Etsy's ads for your listings on Google, social media and partner sites. You're only charged 15% of the order (12% once your shop has made $10,000 in the past 365 days) when the sale comes from an ad click. Shops under $10,000 can opt out; once you pass $10,000 you must stay enrolled at the 12% rate. The fee is capped at $100 per order.

Digital downloads use the same core fees: $0.20 listing fee, 6.5% transaction fee, and payment processing (3% + $0.25 in the US). There's usually no shipping charged, so total fees on a $15 digital product are roughly $1.15–1.20 — about 8%.
Etsy Plus costs $10/month and its main money-saving perk is waiving the $0.20 renewal fee on some listings. You need 50+ listings that renew to break even on the fee savings alone — most sellers benefit more from the other perks (extra listings, shop customizations) than the fee waiver.
